Mee-nuuh

So, any guesses what THAT may be?? No? Well, I'll help you out. That's PEANUT. Yes, Zoe has finally called Peanut by her name, rather than kitty. Sometimes it's Mee-nuh, but sometimes it's Pee-nuh. That and all the newfound acceptance from Peanut to let Zoe pet her pretty much whenever?? We may have something good going on!

This past week...

We have been reading the paper...

We have been twirling (she likes to twirl in one direction, but look in the other...and you can see the last few bits of the shiner she had).

We've been meal-planning...

And, lastly, we've been drawing. The magna doodle has provided Zoe with lots of drawing and no mess for Mommy! Oh, and she doesn't try to eat this like she does the crayons (yuck).

See?? we've been pretty busy this week!

Not only that, this week has included a visit to Grampa C's work to show off, since the last time she'd been there, Zoe was only a few months old. Then it was off to the mall with Grandma C and her first spin on a merry-go-round as a test-drive for the one on MV next week...Let's just leave it at that. ;)

Then, Saturday, Zoe and the fam (both grammas, both grampas, her Auntie Jill, Uncle Jay, Cousin, Jacob, and of course Zoe's parents) went to Futures at Fenway. I forgot the camera, but it appears that at 18 months, Zoe was more interested in walking the concession area rather than watching the game. We had a good time, but hopefully, we get to see a little more of the game next year! ;) We did discover how deep Zoe's love for Wally is...she hugged the painted picture of him multiple times. We weren't able to meet Wally in person, but there's always next year!

Be sure to ask her about "bay-ball" and "Wally" :)

Dancing Monkey Reads

:) I just combined a lot of things there...

Zoe has become quite the dancer. She has learned to shake her booty, and loves the Kayem Franks commercial (and music quite similar to that... here is the commercial if you don't know). She also dances like that to a couple of PBS shows she likes to watch, Curious George, Word Girl, Super Why, and Sid the Science Kid. It's cute to watch...kinda looks like a hula! I'll have to see if I can get it on video.

monkey...yep, that's right, she's a MONKEY. She can climb onto the couch, chairs, and ZIPS up the stairs at a rate that can only be compared to, well, monkeys. :) Ever watch a monkey flit from place to place, go up, down, across, up, across, down, somersault, jump, and do it again? Yeah, that would describe about 2 seconds in a day of Zoe. Phew, I'm tired just thinking about it!

And, reading. Well, sorta. She has a couple of books that she knows either all of the pictures of, or most of...I mean, these are picture books or number books. I have to ask her "what's that" to the item, but she can go through most or all of a couple of books! :) What a smarty-pants!

first shiner...

Yep, that's right...Z has her first shiner.

We were sitting on the couch, and Zoe got a little too excited....she moved the wrong way and down she went.

Ah well. We consoled, we checked her out, it won't be the last, I'm sure. We tried ice, but she didn't want anything to do with it. Motrin seemed to help, and she was giggling away when Noah was giving it to her. Poor kiddo!!

Pictures say a thousand words...

Peanut was feeling exceptionally generous!

Zoe kept saying "niiiiice"...

"Aww, niiiiiiiiice"
Here's some pretty impressive bedhead. This was from nap time.

Not quite awake yet...talk about sleeping hard!

Reading to her bear...Wally was looking on.

Wally was so interested, I think he just about fell over! Zoe was pointing out the different pictures!

"See, Daddy...this is a ball"

"Oooooookay, Teddy...once upon a time..." (One of her favorite things to say is "ooooookay" when we're walking down the stairs--could be from nap, from the kitchen, from whereEVER!)

And here, she's telling Noah something TERRIBLY important...We really wish we knew what it was, though!

"oooohhh, Daddy....Lemme tell you a story"

Hamming it up with Daddy.

Cuddling and reading with Momma.

"Daaaaaaddy...come OOON!"

"I want to walk" (yes, she says this)

...and walk...and walk. We walk laps around the kitchen table (why? Because it's there, I think. She also likes to be chased around the table too.)

lots and lots of stuff!!

Zoe has had lots of things going on lately...

New vocabulary!
First shiner!
New dance moves!
Reading!
Climbing like a monkey!!

Let's start with the vocabulary:
She told me today "Thank you, Mommy" when I picked her up from the changing table. She can identify LOTS of things in books, including a kitty and puppy (of course), bear, bunny, fish, the "mommy" and "daddy" on a page, monkey, lobster, hyena, elephant, shoes, book, lollipops (pops), cars, trucks, ducks, birdies (bee), all kinds of things.

She has a number of sentences she says often. "I sit up," "I get it", "Where ___" "where is it?" "I get Daddy", "I go up", "I get you" (means chase me, chase me!).

She understands one step instructions, and sometimes even two step ones (like pick up your milk and bring it to Mommy" when she throws it on the ground). She understands when it's time for dinner, eat, snack (and can say "nack"). She understands when we ask her if she's tired and needs to go up for "night-night" or bed.

More often than not, Zoe will say "no" and "yes" appropriately.

And, Zoe's actual vocabulary?? She STUNS us every day with the words she picks up, repeats, and says. It's incredible.

Oh, and about the animals she knows? If you want to do something fun with Zoe, she loves to tell you the things animals say...
monkey
hyena (this is in a book she has, and she says "ha ha")
elephant
kitty
puppy
duckie (sounds more like an actual quack and less like caa)
froggie
lobster (makes an open/close motion with her hand)
skunk (says "peee-you")
snake
chicken (makes a clicking sound with her tongue)
birdie
praying mantis (she moves her hands together)
cow

She can't always tell us the name, but she does say the sound :) It's cute.

Why the variety? The different books she has has a smattering of these animals.

Ask her, she'll tell you...she's very proud of herself. She'll tell you so, but you may not understand her. hehe

Zoe has developed this very funny way to talk to you. She moves her hands and says things with such importance and emphasis you'd SWEAR she was saying something important! Just go with it, and you're bound to get a good giggle!

Okay, more things in another post!
